Artifacts known as Soldevi steam beasts were artificial creatures created for defense and utility by the Soldevi machinist Arcum Dagsson during the earliest part of the Thaw on Dominaria.

Description[ | ]

The Soldevi steam beasts were the most interesting structures of the inner city of Soldev. They were huge triangular boxes, each box resting on twin metal legs, scattered seemingly at random throughout the city. These triangular shapes towered over all but the machinists' spires, and they vented white clouds of steam every so often from their heated water tanks, and flexible pipes draped from the sides of these odd constructs, leading into surrounding buildings. They had jets in a line along their back, able to spray a burst of steam on enemies in battle.[1]

History[ | ]

Soldevi steam beasts were based on the designs of Phyrexian War Beasts that the Soldevi found in their various dig sites near Koilos. When Jaya Ballard brought news of the encroaching presence of Varchild near Soldev, Arcum Dagsson mustered the steam beasts to defend the city.[1]
