Stained is a test card-only and token-only artifact creature type used to represent artifact creatures that have a discoloration that can be clearly distinguished from the surface, material, or medium it is found upon. Thus far it has always been combined with the Glass type.

Stained debuted as a creature type in 2023 as part of a Unknown Event test card at the 2023 Barcelona Unknown Event. It debuted on Sagrada Familiar, which is a wall that creates Stained Glass tokens. It was inspired by the Sagrada Família basilica in Barcelona and the Familiar cycle in Planeshift.
