Starcryst, the Astral Visionary was a mysterious merfolk on Shandalar, who took command of the Blue Guild until its downfall.
Starcryst's forces included thought invokers, shapeshifters, sea dragons, merfolk shamans, seers conjurers, mind stealers, winged stallios, fungus masters, elementalists, Saltrem Tor djinni, and Whim dragons.
The guildlords and the guilds themselves were originally of pure intent to defend Shandalar but were corrupted by the evil Planeswalker Arzakon's influence in the guise of a benevolent advisor. Together, they betrayed the Guardian of Shandalar during Arzakon's War, to open the path for Arzakon.
The Guildlords, including Starcryst, were in turn defeated, and Arzakon was banned from entering the plane.
