Stash counters are a type of counter introduced in Streets of New Capenna.
Description[ | ]
Stash counters are used to track a player's use of resources and are then used to convert that stash into another resource.
Stash counters first appeared on the Glittering Stockpile in Streets of New Capenna. It is a treasure artifact with an activated ability to give along with adding a stash counter to it. It has a second ability to sacrifice the treasure to gain mana of any color equal to the number of counters on it. This represents stashing the mana for later.
Bloomburrow saw a return of stash counters on Hoarder's Overflow, which function similarly to Glittering Stockpile.
Magic: The Gathering Foundations combined stash counters with Tinybones habit of stealing things to allow players to steal their opponents cards as they discard them.
