Merge[]

It was proposed in october to merge the pages Mirrodin (plane) and New Phyrexia (plane). Although it is technically the same plane, I think it would be confusing to merge the pages. I don't think it is neccesary or helpfull. --Hunter (talk) 08:08, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

What might be confusing about it? Any reference to Mirrodin would redirect to New Phyrexia. The Mirrodin page will not change substantially in the future; recent edits have added missed citations and rearranged its content. Any future updates to the plane will be noted on the New Phyrexia page, and as such, the Mirrodin page will increasingly become a footnote in comparison. Because of this, and because Mirrodin does not exist independently of New Phyrexia, I think it should be integrated with the New Phyrexia page as a chapter in that plane's history. Actually I find it more confusing to have the two pages separate, because it is the same plane after all. Just different names attached to it. I mean we don't have a separate page called Argentum. - Yandere Sliver H09 symbol 07:07, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
The majority was in favor of the merge. It is done --Hunter (talk) 17:52, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

Merge and sub-sections headers[]

I've seen that, for example in the Core 2020 page, have been added some sort of sub-sections with headers, like "Theme Decks" and such. I know that now Mirrodin and New Phyrexia page have been merged, but I've always thought that having a New Phyrexia page wih a "Mirrodin" header would be the better choice (even on the Wizards' site Mirrodin and New Phyrexia are still considered two different planes). I never suggested it before I didn't know if it was possible, but apparently it is. This would be true for the pages linked to New Phyrexia/Mirrodin, like the Tangle and the Quicksilver Sea. In a sense, there would be a page with the present situation (New phyrexia), and a header called Mirrodin were you would see things as they were. What do you think about it? --Firebead elvenhair (talk) 15:02, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

Glad you like out new technology. The two pages don't need to be subpages of each other. So we have a bit more freedom in naming things naming these two articles.
The main point for me always was that I am unsure how the split would be best done content wise. Where does Mirrodin stop and where does New Phyrexia begin? I would honestly not know how to split the article. - Yandere Sliver H09 symbol 16:14, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
Yes, that would be the trickier part. I would follow the Wizards site. Mirrodin goes on until around Mirrodin Besieged, or at least Scars of Mirrodin; from then on, we have New Phyrexia. For the locations pages, things would be easier: the "pure" location goes in Mirrodin, and the "corrupted" location goes in Phyrexia. The split would even make easier the in-game references (which I have waited to put on the page just for this reason). --Firebead elvenhair (talk) 17:04, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

Plane image[]

Why it has an image of Smokestack? The smokestack were from Urga's Saga set, unrelated to New Phyrexia. May be we could find an image more representative for the plane. --Tuamir (talk) 18:29, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

Perhaps the Darksteel Citadel? The basic lands in New Phyrexia depict the destroyed Artifact Lands. The Citadel is indestructible, so it can be still around, representing the old Mirrodin and new Phyrexia. - Yandere Sliver H09 symbol 19:13, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

"Sun" vs "Moon" of New Phyrexia (Argentum | Mirrodin)[]

This is more of a Wiki-wide question than a question for this page specifically. Should we be referring to the five mana satellites of the plane as "suns" by default or as "moons"? I've noticed that across the various pages, we use both references inconsistently.

For example:

Meanwhile:

  • Glissa Sunseeker refers to the Green Sun.
  • Memnarch refers to the Green Sun.
  • Slobad refers to the Green Sun.
  • The card's themselves are mostly consistent with the use of "Sun" - especially in the Zenith and Twilight cycles.

For this page, I understand the need for "sun" or "moon" to be used where its relevant. -- RivalRowan (talk) 01:13, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

I agree, I do think we should probably standardize to "sun" as the card-standard usage (except when referring to a culture that specifically uses "moon"). I think it just got twisted since the book for the set was The Moons of Mirrodin and it all spiraled from there. RudleyDudley (talk) 04:30, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

Links to the retired articles[]

Almost all links to worldbuilding articles are now 404'd due to WotC's rebuilding of the website. I think it'd be best if some of them were replaced by archive links like this one https://web.archive.org/web/20110702132957/http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/stf/135#expand for "A World Sculpted from Metal by Doug Beyer.

Large missing chunks[]

I recently made an edit on this, and was pretty sure I didn't delete 2000 bits of the page. I'll like to try to fix it but I'm putting this up to say that it wasn't a malicious deletion. 129.94.8.9 01:32, 11 July 2023 (UTC)

However improbably, I will defend that my edit was removing perhaps 200 bits (the part about Capenna Angels on New Phyrexia) and someone else's edit was merged with mine, which consisted of a lot of deletions, comprising on some (broken?) references and card listings. Not sure how acceptable the changes are. 129.94.8.9 01:42, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
