Tayva and Loria were cousins from Terisiare who lived during the transition from the Ice Age to the Thaw of Terisiare, on the plane of Dominaria.
Description[ | ]
Tayva was older and grayer than Loria, with a dark and cold personality. She wore a dress of poorly cured hide, irregularly patched but well-fitting, carefully dyed into a single muddy gray-green color that vanished into the background.
Loria was younger and better-looking than Tayva, with finer and more delicate features. She was well-groomed for someone working in the water and the mud. She wore dull blue rags, but they hung neatly, and while the clothes were covered with patches and crude stitching, they did not have any actual holes.[1]
History[ | ]
Toward the end of the Ice Age, Tayva and Loria were socialites living in a city, hosting a grand manor with many servants. The dark mage Ebnezzer taught them necromantic magic, and they slowly turned their entire household into servile zombies. Then the World Spell happened, draining them of most of their necromantic power and leaving Ebnezzer possessed by a dark spirit. They killed Ebnezzer and took his head with them north into the backwoods. They put the head into the lake nearby, and the dark spirit took possession of its waters. The cousins lived there for 20 years, feeding the evil entity passersby and customers of their distilled moonshine. After killing the hunter Winton, they heard from their undead pigeons of a plague spreading in the south and thought it would be a good opportunity to have some fun. By this time, they had both grown old, and each one thought the other would slow them down on their journey. Loria secretly poisoned Tayva's food, careful to not ingest any herself, but Tayva had made herself immune to poison and had also served Loria plagued meat. In the end, Loria was quickly overtaken by the magical plague, bleeding out on the shore of the lake. Triumphant, Tayva waded into the lake to pull Loria in but was surprised by the rise of the undead Winton, now possessed by the spirit of the lake. The lake spirit did not want either of the cousins to leave the swamp and dragged them both into the waters.[1]
