- 2021-01-21: BOOM! Studios has struck a deal with Wizards of the Coast to produce a new line of Magic: The Gathering comics, beginning in March 2021.
- 2021-01-14: In the latest banned/restricted list update, Fall from Favor is banned in Pauper.
- 2021-01-07: MTG Arena gains a mobile version with Android early access on January 28, with additional Android device and iOS support coming later this year.
- 2021-01-07: Kaldheim foretells a return to New Phyrexia with a surprise appearance of Vorinclex as Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider (the first card ever to feature the Phyrexian creature type).
- 2021-01-07: Although leaked previously, Kaldheim’s mechanics are now officially revealed. Returning Snow and Sagas are joined by two brand new mechanics, Foretell and Boast.
- 2021-01-01: The release date for Time Spiral Remastered is revealed to be March 19, 2021. The release promo is Lotus Bloom in the pre-Modern card frame.
- 2020-12-31: Gavin Verhey reveals that there will be no Signature Spellbook release in 2021.
