Shaper Tishana, also known as the Voice of Thunder, is a wizened shaman of the River Heralds on Ixalan.
History[ | ]
The holders of the name Tishana are regarded as great shapers. Tishana is also called the great source, an acknowledgement of the tributary Tishana being the primary branch of the Great River. Shaper Tishana can claim de jure leadership over every band, as the Great River claims primacy among the nine.[1]
The current Tishana is the eldest and most powerful of the Nine Shapers.[2] Though her magically amplified voice can drown a pirate ship or scatter a vampire band with a single word, her people find her a warm and kind elder.[3]
Tishana temporarily joined up with Huatli in their race to prevent Kumena from gaining control over the Immortal Sun.[4][5] After saving Kumena, when he was thrown out the Tower of Triumph, Tishana was one of many who joined the scramble for control of the powerful artifact.[6][7]
After the Phyrexian invasion, the death of the Deeproot Tree and the discovery of Matzalantli, Shaper Tishana has decided to act on her leadership, summoning all merfolk Heralds who can hear her to the tribal congress so that they can decide together the fate of the plane.[1]
