:You are correct! As it turns out, generic mana and black mana actually both use the same background and foreground colors on Gatherer (see: {{2}}{{B}}), so in the {{2/B}} icon they made the generic background lighter and the black background darker so it wouldn't all be the same background color. It's the only exception to the standard mana color schemes (aside from Phyrexian mana, which all use darker backgrounds than their non-Phyrexian versions). {{User:ProtonZero/Signature}} 10:05, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

You are correct! As it turns out, generic mana and black mana actually both use the same background and foreground colors on Gatherer (see: {2}{B}), so in the {2/B} icon they made the generic background lighter and the black background darker so it wouldn't all be the same background color.
