The War with Phyrexia is an era in history that involved a handful of planes centered on the impending invasion of Dominaria by the forces of Yawgmoth and the plane of Phyrexia.
Description[]
After Urza ascended, he realized the threat of the Phyrexians that had corrupted his brother Mishra was not confined to his home plane of Dominaria. After an ill-fated planeswalk to their home plane of Phyrexia, Urza realized he alone stood no chance of facing Yawgmoth and his minions. This started Urza's war against Phyrexia, which included a long build-up of preparations on both sides, including the creation of the Legacy, cultivating bloodlines such as Clan Capashen, the creation and staging of the plane of Rath, and the massing of troops and powerful minions and planeswalkers. The era ended with the Phyrexian Invasion of Dominaria, which resulted in the deaths of millions, but also the defeat of Phyrexia and the death of Yawgmoth.
The era included several events tied to the war or independent of it. These events include the Founding of the Tolarian Academy, the Tolarian Temporal Disaster, the founding of New Vodalia, the attempted coup of Bryce and Palmyra by Johan, the Invasion of Tolaria, the Collapse of Serra's Realm, the Rise of the Cabal, Ramses Overdark's war in Madara, the Battle of Lat-Nam, the Mirage War, the Planeswalker War on Corondor, and the Rathi Overlay. The end of the war marks the start of the Rift Era.
