Wind counters are a type of counter introduced in Arabian Nights. They are used for effects on cards with a wind theme.

Description[ | ]

Wind counters first appeared on Cyclone in Arabian Nights where they were originally known as "chips" before being given errata to be Wind counters. It is an enchantment that gets a Wind counter for each upkeep and forces the player to pay {G} per counter on it or else it will be sacrificed. If the player pays, then the Cyclone deals damage equal to the number of Wind counters to the opponent player.

The counters appeared once again on Freyalise's Winds in Ice Age. It was an enchantment that would add a Wind counter to any permanent that became tapped. It acts as a replacement for untapping with all the counters being removed instead of untapping the permanent.
